Exploring Intuitive Painting

This series of 4 -three hour workshops will cover different methods of beginning a painting and how to develop your intuition about the painting process. This workshop is mixed media, acrylic and oil, instructed by Jody Ahrens jodyahrensartist.com and Ashley Little ashleylittleart.com .

September 7, 14th, 21st, 28th 9am- 12pm

1. Sept 7- Learn different creative ways to start painting intuitively, from your first spontaneous brush strokes through a disciplined completion. You will learn composition and the color wheel as we go. Develop your subject in an intuitive way toward an abstract or an abstracted landscape. Discover the power of a limited palette. You could potentially complete more than one painting during this session.

2. Sept 14th- Learn how to begin a landscape from a photo and take it in an intuitive, creative direction. We will focus on the magic and versatility of transparent oil paints.

3. Sept 21st- Learn more advanced and diverse approaches to beginning your paintings. Apply the concepts learned in previous classes regarding composition, intuition and exploration. Paint an intuitive abstracted painting with a focal point.

4. Sept 28th- It’s the final touches that create a professional looking painting. Tips and Techniques for editing your paintings for improved composition, appeal and focal point. Students will bring paintings from the first three classes to edit.
